Following the Solana incident involving SwissBorg, Kiln is implementing precautionary measures across all networks:

We expect to be able to resume some services by end of week and will provide a more precise ETA as soon as possible.

  • API degradation may temporarily affect your preferred application's interface

  • Smart contracts remain unaffected and safe to use

  • Users are still generating rewards during the incident any position with Kiln

  • Emergency access to your funds is possible directly onchain via Etherscan, but only recommended for experienced users with urgent needs⁠.


Standard User FAQs

Why can't I see my position in my prefered application's interface?

  • Partners are using Kiln Connect API that is currently in maintenance mode for precautionary measures, this decrade services in some partners application. You can still see your position directly onchain, please refer to each product FAQ for more details.

Are my funds safe?

  • Smart contracts remain safe and are not impacted by the incident.

Can I still access my funds in an emergency during the disruption of Kiln’s API services?

  • We DO NOT recommend you proceed with this path unless you are an experienced user and have an urgent need to access the funds. Yes. While Kiln’s API services (Kiln Connect) are unavailable, you can still interact with your staking/DeFi position onchain using tools like Etherscan. Please refer to your prefered product FAQ for more details.

Am I still earning rewards?

  • All positions continue generating rewards (staking during exit queue, DeFi unaffected).


Pooled Staking FAQ

User Action Required: None, Kiln Pool handles validator staking after exit is completed automatically

Impact: Users are still generating rewards while validators are exiting and slight underperformance during validator reactivation period

Are Kiln smart contracts impacted by this incident?

Smart contracts are not impacted by the incident. They remain safe to use, and end users continue to generate rewards from their staking position.

Can I still access my funds in an emergency during the disruption of Kiln’s API services?

We DO NOT recommend you proceed with this path unless you are an experienced user and have an urgent need to access the funds. Yes. While Kiln’s API services (Kiln Connect) are unavailable, you can still interact with your staking position onchain using tools like Etherscan.

Is my staking position generating rewards during the ETH unstaking?

Yes, your pooled staking position continues to generate rewards as usual while validators are exiting. Once the validators are exited, the pool will automatically stake all available ETH.

Do I need to perform any actions on my staking position during the ETH unstaking?

No actions are required during this incident. Once exited, the pool will then automatically re-stake exited validators. Note that you can still request exit any time following this guide.

Do I need to perform any actions on my staking position once the ETH has unstaked?

No actions are required after the incident. The pool will automatically stake exited validators.

Dedicated Staking FAQ

User Action Required: Yes, users must manually restart validator after exit period, three-step process (Request Exit → Withdraw → Deposit in the Apps)

Impact: Users are still generating rewards while validators are exiting and will need to stake again after their validators are exited

Are Kiln smart contracts impacted by this incident?

Smart contracts are not impacted by the incident. They remain safe to use, and end users continue to generate rewards from their staking position.

Can I still access my funds in an emergency during the disruption of Kiln’s API services?

Is my staking position generating rewards during the ETH unstaking?

Yes, your dedicated staking position continues to generate rewards as usual while validators are exiting. Once the validators are exited, a manual action is required to access your ETH and stake.

Do I need to perform any actions on my staking position during the ETH unstaking?

No actions are required. Note that you can still request exit and withdraw your rewards during the validator exit period.

Do I need to perform any actions on my staking position once the ETH has unstaked?

Yes, you will need to go throw a 3 steps process to continue generating rewards:

  • Request Exit

  • Withdraw

  • Deposit

Kiln dApp or Widget will guide you throw this process.

Why can Kiln Exit my validator?

On Kiln Dedicated staking, validators can be exited by users using the request-exit function or by the node operator as they are running the infrastructure.

DeFi Positions FAQ

User Action Required: None, DeFi operations continue without interruption, but users are temporarily unable to monitor positions since API is paused.

Impact: Once the Kiln Connect API and Widget maintenance are completed, users will be able to manage their positions in the same way.

Are Kiln smart contracts impacted by this incident?

Smart contracts are not impacted by the incident. They remain safe to use, and end users continue to generate rewards from their staking position.

Can I still access my funds in an emergency during the disruption of Kiln’s API services?

Yes, your DeFi position continues to generate rewards normally. The incident does not affect DeFi operations, so there will be no changes to your rewards or ability to use the platform.
